An interview with John Bradford

Q.How do you spend your free time when you are not at work?
A.When I’m not working, I enjoy spending time with my girlfriend Gwen and her daughters, Mady and Alexis, along with my best buddy, Griffin, the golden doodle. This bunch enjoys all sorts of things, lazy afternoons, going to concerts, festivals, the beach, movies, Carowinds, you name it, we’ll do it. All of the above are great, but my absolute favorite all time vacation spot is Las Vegas, and I’ve been way more than I’ll share here. I’m also a big Blueman Group fan, and I’ve lost count on how many times I’ve seen them live, either in Vegas or on tour. If you have never experienced BMG, do it, trust me, you’ll enjoy it.
Q.Are you a Raleigh native?
A.I’m originally from Winston-Salem, but 2018 marks my 19th year here in Raleigh. I’m a graduate of UNCW, and have been in the event industry since 1990.
Q.How long have you been working in the event industry?
A.I’ve worked in the event industry for 26 years. I began with a concert production company in High School, then worked as a production manager during my college years and after graduation, was hired full time as an event coordinator for the university, while at the same time starting my own production company. In 1999, I came to Raleigh to work for a Corporate Events Production company and remained with them for the next 17 years, before beginning with Classic in Sept. 2015.
Q.What type of events do you have the most experience in?
A.I have the most experience in corporate events, which is a wide encompassing category but mainly focusing on companies that do events for a number of reasons. To celebrate, to communicate a message, to reward, or to promote to name a few and I’ve been fortunate to work on all of the ones mentioned above, and have done so in various countries and several states in the US.
Q.How would you describe your design style?
A.“Adaptive” or “client focused” to what is the best solution for the client, which includes creating their vision into realistic solutions, meeting their budget, and putting the client first.
Q.What’s your favorite type of venue to work with?
A.I enjoy working with larger venues such as convention centers and arenas.
Q.What was your most challenging event?
A.Political Campaign events because they are always last minute and there are several added layers of details that have to be worked through, making things more complicated.
Q.What was your favorite event?
A.I’ve worked on several concerts, both public and private and enjoy those environments very much.
